Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the independent provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained for the time needed to respond and maintain the related communication. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Standard technical information may be recorded when a page loads:
- Page-view dates and times
- Browser name and version
- Device class and operating system
- Internet Protocol address
- Referring website, when available
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure site use, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers aggregate this traffic information. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features operate.

- Finding and repairing errors or performance problems
- Maintaining reliable page delivery
- Routing a search query to the selected provider

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Russell County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes routing information for Russell County courts, local law enforcement, Virginia State Police CARE and CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a third-party criminal profile or consumer report, and this resource is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. A partner's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices govern information entered into its tool. Review those terms before submitting a query because we do not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links lead to court portals, law-enforcement offices, Virginia agencies, other public resources, and independent search tools. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy terms apply. Read them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and tailor advertisements. Their tracking does not run under this policy.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query
- Advertising networks serving content
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, so a breach or unauthorized access cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such data is identified, it may be requested for deletion.
Your Data Rights
When its scope requirements apply, the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Code § 59.1-577, gives consumers rights concerning personal data. Other laws may apply based on residence and context. A request may seek to:
- Confirm processing and access covered personal data
- Correct inaccurate covered data
- Delete covered personal data
- Opt out of processing covered by the statute
